The Standout Stone

Posted by

“Outlier” is a term used to describe qualities of things, people, or phenomena that may lie outside normal experience. Or expectations. And invite speculation as to "why?"

Such as what I am calling the "standout stone" seen here along a Japanese garden path.

Consider: All those anonymous stones are linked together to form the pathway, its boundary, and steps. But then one particular stone (foreground), has writing carved upon it, and sits slightly aloof, apart from its sister and brother stones along the way.

Ponder: Why this one stone?

Weathered by time! I love the gritty textures and colours in this well composed shot! Bravo Glenn! ;-)

I wonder what its commemorative meaning is ... and what it says.

It would probably help if we could read the inscription. ;-)
