Simple Things...

Simple thoughts like unity can be signified by the oneness of the many. Hmm.

Consider the unity of this myriad of gray stones, laid out as a single path. Saw this on a tour of a Kyoto shrine's garden last July; but the deeper concept of their simple unity only recently rose to my consciousness this past week.

I can imagine a path set with these, but is it to walk on? I would think not.
Imagine hunting for and collecting the many, many stones of a similar color, to obtain that unity!

Unity and harmony. Note that every stone fits neatly with its neighbor. That's not an accident. Such is the precision and detail in a Japanese garden.
