Walking around the neighborhood on Thursday, we encountered one of our pond-based neighbors, taking a morning stroll. This is a very common turtle in Florida, called a soft-shell turtle. I don't know what this one's intent was, as we found it about a full city block from the nearest pond.

WOW !!! you certainly don´t see animals like that strolling around here in Germany.I´d have to go to a Zoo to see a sight like this.

Wow ... we learn something new EVERY DAY. Neither Mike nor I have ever seen (or heard of) this creature.
It has a pig-like snout ... I do believe God has a sense of humor! ;D

Interesting! Have never seen a soft shelled turtle with a pig snout before! Maybe he is searching for a mate or be discovered on your photoblog to stardom!!:)

It has a snout like a pig. Maybe, it was headed for a pig pen.
