One last stab - it was my first self-assignment shot on color; I took this one with my iPhone and just yesterday figured out how to transfer it from my phone to my regular photo files. So now I am presenting it here, a little bit of an abstract, definite color red, with a bit of black and white trim. What is it?

Haha - a gas pump and hose.

fun! I sometimes have problems rotating my iPhone photos...If I rotate them in the phone, it works...if not...then they are always wrong. Don’t know why...just is!

@Cruz: Well I am sorry you have this same problem with your iPhone photos as I am (in the rotating dept. I mean). Good tip - I may try to rotate it in the phone and re-copy onto my photo files afterwards.

Well...I like it like this...improving, vf! ^)^

@janina: Thanks, I'm glad you like it as is. I appreciate the words of encouragement.

@Ronnie 2¢: Thanks Ronnie.

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

I like this strong graphic, it made me think of Norway (OK I'll get my coat)

@Curly: Thank you, Curly. I had much the same thought (Norway). Haha!

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

Definitely rich and intense colours here Glenn! One suggestion (after rotating the shot) would be to crop out the hose. Simple and colourful! IMHO ;-)

@Eric Cousineau: A something to understand about this self-study on color - it isn't simply to take pictures of "a" color alone. Anybody could walk up to a car or a painted wall and take a relatively featureless pic of a color or two. Part of this is to find and take the color within its environment, in its setting, and not necessarily exclude features like a black and white stripe, or even a hose in the context. I appreciate your viewpoint, Eric - thanks for weighing in.

Ralph Jones from Detroit, United States

Nice abstract. The intersecting lines make it a great composition, even if it os sideways. :)

@Ralph Jones: Thanks Ralph. Glad I figured out how to show it as I'd intended (reposted today at mid-day).

Hey everybody - who previously posted - I just figured out a trick to rotate the photo into the vertical position I'd intended. So I just re-posted it that way (it's 12:14pm, EDT, my time here in FL). Now it's the way I took it with my iPhone... maybe not a real biggie and some may have preferred the horizontal version. Oh well...

Nice abstract and color shot. Are you going to show us what it is?

12 Sep 2011 4:27pm

@B. Thomas: It is a standard gas pump, like you'd see at any gas station. I think it was Marathon.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

This is a gorgeous abstract and yes, it's definitely red! Love it.
