It's Sunday, y'all!
And today Americans observe the 4th of July. It is "our" national American holiday. It's the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, in which the 13 original colonies began their break from British rule.
We who are Am3 Americans would all do well to remember why this date is still so important to us. A wonderful pair of old songs have more than a couple of good things for us to reflect on...
Our fathers' God, to Thee
Author of liberty
To thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright
With freedom's holy light;
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God, our King!
America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
Oh, and the pelicans return here tomorrow...
Soli Deo Gloria!
