Windblown Cypress with Bikers

Posted by
Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 17 September 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Years of prevailing winds have done their number on this old coastal cypress, growing slant from a high place above the Pacific (left side, down). Speeding on their way along the road, passing bikers do not seem to notice. I did. Born to be wild, y'all. Heh.

@P J W Miller: John Kay would be proud.

Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United States

Well done, Glenn ... I love that you got a hint of the ocean below, and even a white cap, to balance the bikers.
How did you like driving in that fog?

17 Sep 2009 9:12am

@Judy: Mostly the fog did not stay over the highway, so it wasn't like driving through it at all, more like driving beside it where we were.

Isn 't God's creation truly amazing? This tree must have deep roots and is going to stand up against the wind no matter what. I think there is a profound message here. :>))

Fascinating tree and place to stop for a few shots. The tree reminds me of those in Aruba where they grow sideways because of the wind.
This tree must be a real survivor.
Nice capture, Glenn.
