Old Mossback

Posted by
Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 3 June 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

A wary old mossback "river cooter" (turtle), sunning himself on a palm log, floating along the Myakka River. Not even a minute after I got close enough to snap this shot, a helicopter flew overhead and the turtle disappeared into the river. Not ready to become soup, I suppose.

The reflections in the waves provide a nice surrounding to the subject turtle.
