Shell

This solitary clam shell, sitting in the sun on a porch railing just seemed like it needed to be pictured.

This has a great feel to it, I love it, maybe because it is so cold down under and the moment that anything that looks remotely like summer warms the heart. A great capture and composition Viewfinder, well done!

Lovely cool colours that make this a beautiful still-life. I think it would even get more beautiful if the horizon is leveled ;)

@Monique: Thank you Monique. You're a gal after Chris' own heart. All I can add is this: In a completely flat world, all horizons would be straight ;^)

Lorraine is right, I can smell the ocean in this one. It's beautiful.

The composition the colour contrast, excellent!

A simplistic yet captive image. I think it was good that you kept the "ledge" leveled and the horizon as is. It gives a sense of water movement, yet at the same time not giving the sense that the shell would fall if the ledge ended up as the unlevel one.

@Steven: Thanks Steven; your comments reflect what was my exact thinking in presenting it this way.

Good macro, good colors, and the mytological suggestion. I like it.

I like the conversations about the levels ... normally I'm a stickler for a level horizon, but . . . *smile*

Give Bella a pat for us!

Excellent VF! A winning shot. Love the colors, light and shadows. Indeed an image worth doing something with (framed and matted)
Bella continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Her name is in the sign I posted today.

Sorry I didn't comment on this yesterday - when I got home the power was out at the house (bad thunderstorms) and didn't come back on all night. I am actually torn on the horizon in this one - I like the fact that the porch railing is level, but that makes the horizon off!! You can't win with this shot - although it is a great shot (love the bright white and wonderful blue-green water color especially)!!!
