Summer in the City
The Lovin' Spoonful
(John Sebastian - Mark Sebastian - Steve Boone)
Hot town, summer in the city
Back of my neck getting dirty and gritty
Been down, isn't it a pity
Doesn't seem to be a shadow in the city
All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head
But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come-on come-on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright
And babe, don't you know it's a pity
That the days can't be like the nights
In the summer, in the city
In the summer, in the city
Our old backyard thermometer is reminding us that even in the "cool" of early morning, it's still summer in the city of Bradenton.
@Michael Rawluk: We will go up into the mid-90s (f) today. But the worst part is the humidity; it will feel like over 100 degrees. Hope your forests are spared.
@tyan: That's pretty hot, too. We will hit 35 c. at least by this afternoon, unless it rains. Stay cool...
@MaryB: I can't imagine a summer getting "up" to only 16 degrees c. Surely it can get warmer. Thanks for your affirmative comments, MaryB.
@Saed: I'm pleased you like the words and this image today Saed.
@Rebel Streetshooter: Yes, an oldie thermometer it is. But accurate still. Thanks for your affirmatives today Reb.
@Bron: Ha-ha! Long as I stay inside. Strangely also if I go to the beach; the offshore winds usually blow cooler there than even a mile or two inland.
@Anne: Ahh, summertime. I prefer dry heat to sticky, but we get it sticky here with our higher humidities (that's the price we pay for cooling afternoon rains). Hope things improve up your way pretty soon; in January you may even remember this day longingly... who knows? Thank you for the nice comments, Anne.
@Ian Bramham: The good thing is we get those cool breezes off the Gulf of Mexico too. Down side, I'm a couple of miles inland from the beach, so the breezes sort of peter out by the time they get to our house. Glad this reminded you of good times in Sardinia. Thanks for coming by here today, Ian.
@Lorraine: Glad for you that the temps are dropped; 52 F sounds almost chilly, unless the sun is shining too. Thanks for coming by.
@Jen: A weird thing for us is that we were more conscious of the extreme heat in Georgia when we lived in Conyers than we are here in FL. I hope you get some relief soon. Thanks for the visit and comments today.
@celialee: lol, come visit the beaches of Florida.
@Lost Valley: Hey, I hope things cool down for you soon. Thanks for coming by with such affirmative commenting. Blessings.
@Dawn Sutherland: So is it better to bake in the heat or be steamed? I'm not being unsympathetic -- 116 f. is eye-popping daunting. But 38% humidity is a good day in FL. And if you want to send any of your monsoons our way, we'll take 'em, although we have been getting a bit more much-needed rain this past week or so. We're still way under for the year.
@Wolfgang Prigge: LOL; humidity numbers down here are something our friends out West and north of the Ohio River aren't all totally familiar with. But hot or not, there are great things about the summer here in FL too. Thanks for the great comments!
@Laurie: Only used your AC a couple of times? Blows me away. Here, AC is as essential as food; our last power bill was over $500.00 -- can't wait for some late autumn/winter relief, b/c we don't usually need to run the heat at all during the winter -- maybe only a couple of days.
@Shrig: Thanks Sbrig. Glad for your comments today.
@Rebecca: Yes, with my whining about costs and heat, it can be far worse. Your India story is a reality check for me and folks like me who think things are tough right now.
@Laurie: <smiling> Thanks for the clarification. I still can't imaging actually "choosing" to not use your A/C. But I think my wife would be cheering you on; we have constant conversations about the appropriate level of the thermostat.
@Olaide: Thank you my friend. Your visits and comments are always a highlight of my AM3 day. Blessings to you, Olaide.
@M.E.: Thanks M.E.
@Markus: Let's meet somewhere in the middle, ok? Lol myself.
@RoBeRt: It's no brewery, though... Thanks RoBeRt.
