The elephants are beautiful! They seem so alert and alive, unlike the ones I've seen in captivity. Great shot.

7 Jul 2007 3:33pm

@Seraphine: You cannot imagine what this is like, to see these herds roaming freely under the big, unlimited Kenya sky. You also can't imagine how fast they can move...

MontereyJohn from Salinas, California, United States

Not recently :)

That one in the rear looks like he has taken an interest in you.

Great shot.

7 Jul 2007 3:52pm

@MontereyJohn: Let's just say that big bull elephant was "focused" and scared the bejeebers out of all of us in the safari van.

Rags from Plano, United States

Where did you take this shot? I like it!

7 Jul 2007 5:12pm

@Rags: Taken at the Masai Mara in Kenya, which is part of the Serengeti Plain that stretches into Tanzania. Think Lion King.

@bronzebilly u.k.: Let me say that after I snapped this shot, that big bull turned toward us and did a quick fake charge. Everybody, including the driver of our safari van, nearly had heart failure. It was exciting and terrifying and amazing all in one.

@Line: Thank you. It looked at us a second later with an air of "I'm gonna trample you!" Wild, these elephants are both amazing and dangerous.
