Twins Squared

These two brothers were busily focused on something.

Then I noticed these two guys are twins, and they had twin reflections in the water. Thus the title of today's post - Twins Squared.

For you techies - I processed this very recent shot in my Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 (hereafter referred to as "X2"), using time machine effects filter "Platinum" to give a kind of vintage look, and added the edges. Just because. I really love what my new X2 can do. But I am not sure why X2 is giving it a white frame around the applied vintage photo frame. Probably something I didn't adjust right... sigh. Learning curve.

UPDATE: The boys will be back, cropped and a bit more trim on this coming Wednesday. Tune in to compare.

really cool capture, and I like the processing (I just have X, not X2, and don't have some of those fancy processing options....). One suggestion - crop out the top and leave the boys and reflection more at the center of the image.....Have a happy weekend!!

@Chris: Not a bad idea. At first, I wasn't sure it would be good to "center" them even more (rule of thirds) than they already are. But looking at it again, I'm thinking an even better idea might be to crop not only the top, but also each side, to really zero in on the twins and their reflections. What is cool about post-processing is you don't have to send the negative to a lab and pay for these experiments.

I'm enjoying your photo and processing, along w/the discussion with Chris. I like your idea of cropping top and sides as the photo interest is already vertical.
As for the white border around the vintage edging, it gives a 3D look; w/o it, your top and right edges would fade away.

PS: I love my X2 also!

Before reading your caption I thought this was an actual scanned image, so you definitely accomplished the vintage look. It is such a special capture of two brothers and their twin reflections in the water. I like that one has his arm over the other. They are making childhood memories here and you've captured the moment.
As for the extra white border, Lorraine is correct. The scalloped trim would not show up without it. Really great work here, Glenn.
I love this image and what you've done with it.

i love this,they look alike alright,just that the one on the right seemed a bit taller,but he is so loving,actually putting his arms around his brother!Love the reflection and the tone,looks like a wonderful recollection and would look just fantastic on the living room wall.

Good capture of the twins and their reflections. The processing makes the picture look better. I also think it would be a great idea to crop the image to place both brothers and their reflections in the centre of the image.

fabulous..... i just hope the reflection of the head of the boy on right, was complete... just some more milimeteres down more wud hav been enough...

@Eros: I totally agree, this was one of those accidental photos. I was really trying to get the two boys at play, and that brotherly hug. It didn't turn out so great in the color original, but I saw the reflection when I was playing around with different looks in BW. And it was then that I first discovered the reflection. Thing is, just a slight bit of that head was not in the original photo. Can't add to it, sadly. I can only crop.

I am PSP addicted too with PSP X2... but here, a little error with the white backround around your picture frame...On your PSP, when you apply your picture frame, don't click "keep transparent" under "transparency color"...... then, you can select the background color of your blog =#706F6B (in this case) to fill the area around the frame... OK ???
