Made elsewherePosted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 30 June 2008 in Art & Design and Portfolio. Getting back to the topic of fabrics, a few weeks back I featured some batik cloth from Kenya, which we got on a mission trip. Today's photo is a combo of cloth I got on my trip to Israel, and something I bought myself when I graduated from seminary 21 years ago. This green piece is part of a liturgical stole I wear as I lead worship on Sundays. It was hand-woven in the Philippines. The red multi-color cloth is hand woven by the Druse people who live in the Upper Galilee region. I picked it up during a trip to Israel sixteen years ago. It reminds me of the varied fabric of different peoples who live in that amazing land. I have them both displayed in my office.
