I chuckled when I saw this photo, as we have one of these gourds in the back yard, but no family in it yet.
I also have one w/o the hole, that is painted as a FAT ladybug! ;D
Happy to have your ongoing 'log' of Bella's activities - hugs for Bella!

@Judy: Hahaha! That you'd have one of these gourds painted as a ladybug -- imagine that, Judy. Hey thanks for the comments, and for the hugs.
Nice shot, you really seem to have some love for your old Minolta!! I like the monochromatic feel to this one - it is very moody.....

@Chris: Thanks Chris. If I remember correctly, I took this at Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains Natl. Park. It was late afternoon, and there were thunderstorms rolling in about this time. So the moody feel comes honestly.
I wasn't sure what these were at first, now I know they are gourds, but what are they used for? They look interesting hanging up there, a great shot VF :)
Glad to hear that Bella has had a good day, and you both enjoyed your walk, still sending prayers and hugs :)

@MaryB: The dried gourds are hollowed out, and used here as birdhouses. This is not uncommon in the Appalachians region of Eastern U.S. Also, thank you for the prayers and hugs for Bella. She's glad you care, and so am I.
A magnificent image VF. It is so calming to look at. I love the hue and the few branches appearing in the lower left.
I attempted growing gourds here in Florida, succeed on a few but very thin after drying. I recently learned that in the mid section of the country is where they grow well, like here in Tennessee.
I have another from overseas used by a relative for wine with a cork in the top. They really are unique and attractive little vessels and birdhouses.
Thank you for keeping us up to date on Bella.
