It's Sunday, y'all!
And this is a view one section of a piece of batik cloth we got while on a mission trip to Kenya. It shows two very brave Masai warriors. Their shields and spears remind me of a passage from Ephesians 6, as it is translated in The MESSAGE... "Be prepared. You're up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it's all over but the shouting you'll still be on your feet." I have this one hanging in my office. And for those who do not already know it, this passage is about us waging spiritual warfare, not warfare against one another.
BTW, you can see the full piece of cloth here.
Soli Deo Gloria!.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 10/7/08, It's a happy and energetic Tuesday for Bella; she was raring to go this morning. We had our walk, breakfast as usual on what has started as a cool, breezy day. She goes to see her doggie cardiologist again on October 14th. God's good blessings and answers to prayer are our hope.
Bella's miracle, the one we're all praying for, is still a day by day process; it may take a bit of time for completion. Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run. Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are truly special blessings to us.

I know the scripture well, my favorite version is the King James one, but they still mean the same thing. So this is a very meaningful hanging on your wall. It's beautiful.

Spiritual warfare must be better than regular warfare. But why war at all? Bush must know (says the idiot)! I truly wish I understood. I love the image VF!

@Craig: To answer your question, Ephesians 6:10-20 deals with spiritual issues faced by Christians that come from outside our own selves. It attempts to make sense of why things happen the way they do, why some things seem to severely tax our spirits and our ability to "walk" the Christian walk. It offers wise counsel as to how to meet these things head on, and walk away victorious.
I hope you don't mind my posting that section here...
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[a] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Dear VF, I never got here to say Happy Father's Day yesterday - but the wish is the same today - and not only for a day but for the year. ... I like your Batik and enjoyed checking it out on JPG as well. I enjoyed reading your explanation on Ephesians also. Blessings...
