From the VF archives: This big tall guy came pretty close to our safari van at Lake Nakuru National Park. For the next few days, we're going to spend some BW time in Kenya with even bigger folks than Stretch.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/23/08. Wednesday. Another good Bella morning, she is in good spirits, even with they mysterious disappearance of our normally numerous and active neighborhood squirrel population. Maybe "Sheriff Bella" has cleaned out Dodge and sent all those tree-climbing hoodlums packing. Heh.
Bella and I appreciate each of you for caring and praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are daily blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle that is slowly unfolding.

It's so... CUTE! Which is really an odd word for a giraffe, but it is. Wonderful capture. :) I can't wait to see pictures from your time in Kenya!

That's an excellent image of a giraffe in the wild.

WONDERFUL ... every time I see a shot of a giraffe, I laugh.
When our children were little, each of them had an animal nickname and 'Daddy' called me his Ladybug. They called their father the giraffe, because to them, his 6' 3" frame looked like that of a giraffe!

What a fabulous experience!! To see this in the WILD. WOW! GREAT SHOT!!!
PS. I posted a Downy Woodpecker for you today. You will be able to see the difference between the Red-Bellied (from yesterday) and the Downy. The Downy is a LOT smaller than the Red-Beliied, however that may not be noticable in the shots.

Lovely shot, i think it could use a bit more contrast though!

@DaveB: Probably could. Hazy day in real-time color, and I think some of that haze came through, esp. in the background. Processing-wise, I didn't do anything beyond converting this to BW.
Nice one of the dangling movement!
Excellent and the B&W is perfect

Nice caption showing a lot of depth and action. The black and white effect works well as it highlights the markings on the giraffe well and the flamingos in the background.
