For all you winterbound people -- a cold blast from the past, a 2004 Georgia ice storm.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/26/08. Saturday. Bella's good this morning; walk was fun/no squirrels, but we did a different block than usual. She likes variety. Breakfast -- meds soon, the post-walk routine. She slept better last night than the one before. Panting still, but it's hot. So, thank you God for another morning blessing today.
Bella and I are grateful for each of you, for caring and singing (love is all around...), and especially for praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are day by day blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle, slowly unfolding.

Beautiful! I didn't know Georgia gets ice storms. How odd. It's really neat how it's a row though.

I like how the light is hitting the ice!

@Lorraine: Lol.
Cool shot ; ) So glad we are past that point now...beautiful shot, the light and framing and lovely!

@Jen: Thanks Jen. And yes, it would be very unusual (not impossible) for a late ice storm to hit where you are now.
very nice shot. i like the composition :)

For those with inquiring minds, I shot this from below the steps to our second story wooden deck. So the ice formation you see is the water/ice dripping down from one of the higher steps to the next one lower down. The wooden frame you are seeing is actually the shape of the entire stairway, as viewed from the underside. I was standing up as I shot this.

@Chris: Always stirring the pot, me.
There is something magical about icicles, beautiful lighting and framing on this VF.

Great shot! Now that you explained that it's steps, it's a wonderful composition!

I didn't find your sense of humor all that funny! ;-) I love how they're each tiny little specimen instead of one conglomerate of consolidated icicles. The nicely lit up against the dark framing from the stairs. I remember the ice storm on Valentine's Day 1990. I was in the only residence hall that had electricity on the entire campus.

@Steven: Well I have to admit to something. Living down in Florida now, and away from winter's worst, I've been feeling a certain amount of... well, let's just call it frost or snow envy as I've looked at all y'all's winter pictures. So I just happened to stumble across this forgotten icy photo in my archives this week. Gotta take my shot at posting a piece of winter, too. Even if it's four years old. :^D
Very nice winter shot.

Nice framing and light .

I just came in from breaking off the 4 foot long icicles we had in front of the kitchen window. Left them there after the weekend's ice storm, they were too beautiful, but now we are going to have a few daytime highs above freezing, so it's safer to break them off. I like your little "oragan pipes", good composition.

What is that stuff hanging from the wood? What do you mean "ice"? Like what's in my Coke? :) I like how they're all lined up like a bar graph.

Reminds me of the wind chimes found in the percussion section of a band.
