Faces in a Crowd 5

An intent photographer standing in front of this red plastic mesh barrier (theoretically protects green condo lawns from rowdy pirates and parade crowds) is doing his point'n'shoot thing with great concentration... He seems totally unaware of the ever-vigilant VF camera watching from atop a condo balcony, high above the Gasparilla parade route. The hunter becomes the hunted, eh? Notice, this othewise khaki-looking guy is wearing one string of beads, but with a Gasparilla medallion -- a much-prized catch on parade day.

FYI, Gasparilla is Tampa's version of Mardi Gras. Gasparilla commemorates a mostly legendary pirate invasion of Tampa Bay. On parade days, people dress up in a wide variety of mostly pirate-related costumes as they stroll along the parade route, in various stages of partying spirit.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.
