Gasparilla is Tampa's version of Mardi Gras. This year's event just took place several weeks ago - Gasparilla commemorates a pirate invasion of Tampa Bay, and there are parades, parties, and all sorts of wildness. People dress up in all sorts of costumes as they stroll along the parade route, in various stages of partying spirit.
What we have here is the correct posture for enticing ladies in red and erstwhile young pirates to throw beads -- in the background intrepid parade watchers, hands raised and waving at the passing float, hoping to get something good tossed their way. In the foreground, in spite of the red cup in her left hand (filled with pirate grog, no doubt), this Lady in Red is about to really start throwing...
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 10/12/08, Sun. Bella's in good spirits; we had our morning walk and a squirrel crossed her path. Highlight! Bella will see her doggie cardiologist again on October 14th. As always, God's good blessings and answers to prayer are our continuing hope. Blessings to all.
Bella's miracle, the one we're all praying for, is still a day by day process; it may take a bit of time for completion. Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run. Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are truly special blessings to us.

This looks great fun, I love the way the guy at the back right to the lady in red looks as if he is about to be lasooed by a string of purple beads. A great shot VF.

Pirate grog, $3.00; red dress, $45.00; flailing arms for a 5 cent necklace made in China, priceless. Great capture of the various facial expressions from the attendees!

Isn't it incredible that the Gorgeous, curvaceous blond is sharper than the rest? How original LOL It's a gorgeous compo all around, Vf :)

@Lorraine: She sort of just jumped into the place of focus. You know, these blondes seem to have a natural ability to know where cameras are focused at all times, and be there. Lol.
I like the fact that so much is going on here... you can really find so many details and face expressions, cool!

So much going on!! You can feel the mood of the crowd... and it doesn't hurt to have that blonde in the middle of it all!! LOL

Beautiful! I like the contrast between the woman and tha background!
13 Feb 2008 2:19pm
This is a great "journalistic" shot, separating the bed thrower from the milling throngs.
13 Feb 2008 2:59pm
I think it's the other way round, it's not the blondes knowing where the cameras are, it's the cameras knowing where the blondes are...

@vu@granby - Wolfgang Prigge: Shhh, don't tell. Lol.
