This ragged looking red and green ball is my wife's favorite ornament. It is our son's creation from early elementary school years. It was made with string and paste and a balloon in the center which was inflated for roundness, and then deflated and removed when the paste dried. Our son is about to turn 26, so that should tell you how long we've had it hanging on our tree...
And it rings up as #5 in my random "Treasures on our Tree" series. Silent Night, y'all!
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 9/6/08, Sat. A nicely cool Florida morning. Bella likes days like this. Nothing special going on this morning, she's out in the yard now playing with our cat Stella (yes, the names rhyme)... God is good.
Bella's miracle, the one we're all praying for, is still a day by day process; it may take a bit of time for completion. Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run. Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are truly special blessings to us.

Nice one, I can understand the emotional attachment your wife has to it. We have an angel made from construction paper and differently shaped pasta our daughter made when she was in early elementary, and she is about to turn 35!

@Wolfgang Prigge: Pasta and paper angels, bits of red and green string and paste, such are the attachments of the heart. Am glad you understand. Merry Christmas my friend.
Nice shot - it's got order and chaos all in one image!

Wonderful image, I love the DOF, textures and colours. But more than that, I think Mary has said it so right here. These are indeed the best; I can so understand why it is your wife’s favourite. :)
