Tree FacePosted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 17 November 2007 in Abstract & Conceptual and Portfolio. Believe it or not, I have looked high and low around Bradenton for grafitti and have found virtually none worth photographing (4 letter words I won't bother with). Fact is, the local law has really been cracking down on gangs and we have been in an anti-grafitti mode since summer. Along with this, the merchants and others whose walls would ordinarily sport grafitti have been keeping their walls clean and freshly painted. So while I wanted to go out and shoot some great grafitti, I have come up with none. Therefore, for grafitti day, I've got a variation on the theme. Instead of the usual way grafitti de-faces public places, I offer instead, smiling tree-faces. You see, we've got this huge but very friendly kapok tree in our back yard. We stuck this little face on her trunk, and now she smiles at us every morning. Today she is a little bit color-saturated, but that's just the processing. You can still see her big thorny spines all over the trunk. You ought to see how beautiful she is when blooming. She and her sisters all around here are blooming right now. Maybe I'll get a photo posted before long. In fact, look for its pink flowers here next Tuesday (Nov. 20th). HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.
