From the well of souls, er photo archives, I pull up this year old shot of the interior of the church located on the grounds of the Monastary of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, GA. I found an interesting thing about this beautiful building was that in this particular moment in time, the lighting cast a soft purple glow on the arches and walls. So it's now part of my random purple series, hopefully for your enjoyment.
Looks familiar? For those who have been around here a few months, I'd posted a different shot of this same sanctuary, in BW, on June 12.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/23/08. Wednesday. Another good Bella morning, she is in good spirits, even with they mysterious disappearance of our normally numerous and active neighborhood squirrel population. Maybe "Sheriff Bella" has cleaned out Dodge and sent all those tree-climbing hoodlums packing. Heh.
Bella and I appreciate each of you for caring and praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are daily blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle that is slowly unfolding.

Beautiful lighting! I can't believe the place has such a gorgeous purple glow.

@e.: It has something to do with the time of day and the soft colors of their stained glass windows.
Pure magic VF! The mauve colour is so beautiful leading into the white. Excellent photo. Good job you revived this! :)

@Organik: Wow, thank you O-Mum. Their windows (made by monastery monks) have panels of blues and various shades of pink/mauve, which creates in my eyes a very soft purple glow.
Yes, a gorgeous glow!

@Craiger: Thanks Craiger; glad you like this.
The colour is so beautiful, I love the way it becomes cream around the alter, what an impressive church! A great purple shot VF :)
PS. for some reason I can't post a picture today!, (but I can comment!) there is an error on the page and it won't let me!! :( but as soon as we get it sorted I'll be back :)

@MaryB: MaryB I do hope you get the computer issue resolved. And thank you for the very high compliments. This church, and the monastery grounds, offers a very interesting place to just wander around, camera in hand.

@Sriram: Thank you Sriram, I'm honored by your kind comment today. Blessings, friend.
Gorgeous, gorgeous photo and it just leads the eye right up front, and the purple shade: wow that adds spirituality...good one VF ;)

@Lorraine: Such a compliment! Your kind words of approval are received with humble appreciation, dear friend.
I can't decide which I like better.. the b&w from June has a great tilt and feel... but this purple is eerily holy :)

@Betsy Barron : www.thebetsy.com: Thanks, Betsy. And I do know what you mean; they each have their strong points. If I could be objective about my own work, this one has the really powerful and moody/holy atmosphere you describe; the other one is more "artsy" and angular, from my pov.
Beautiful! Well done!

@Mingo: Usted me honra con sus comentarios buenos, mi amigo.
The lighting is super sweet. What a capture. It looks so unreal - yet not touched up. Great moment to be there for.

@Rabbit: Thanks Rabbit -- you are right -- not touched up one bit. This is how it came out of the camera chip, direct to a screen near you. The soft purple and mauve colors are the result of daytime lighting from their numerous stained glass geometric pattern windows.
Truly outstanding lighting, composition and colour, dear VF!! AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL.

@Rebecca: Wow, Rebecca, how kind you are -- and how much I thank you for a very enthusiastic endorsement for this little photo today! Blessings, dear friend.

@Jen: Jen, so great to hear from ya! Hope things are progressing to where you'll be back soon from your "bloggus interruptus" status. No fun!
Since you live in the general area, you might want to do a day trip and travel southeast along I-20 to Rockdale County, exit at Conyers, navigate to GA 212 and find this beautiful monastery for yourself. It has lots of neat things to photograph, the church being the biggest, but just one of them. One of the things the monks do there is raise bonsai trees for sale and display; great photo ops in their little greenhouse. Am missing your photos and comments; hoping all is well.
i like the color, lighting and ambience of this picture! good job!

@M.E.: Thanks a lot; glad you like this one.
I've just looked back on your purple series VF as I have been MIA last few days due to a hectic schedule....it's been great andthis is such a beautiful sanctuary - it reminds me of our new Chapel with those arrches on the ceiling!!!! Great find and it fits so well with the rest of the pics!!!! Happy Thursday to you my friend!
8 Nov 2007 1:18am
@Mandy: So glad you had time to stop by. I understand MIA days, my schedule gets crazy sometimes, too. If your new chapel looks anything like this, it's a beautiful and most worshipful place and I'm happy to know that. I hope you'll do an interior/exterior series on it sometime.
excellent addition to your purple series young fella--I'm checking out the others right now my friend--see you there--billy
