Trick or treat! Coastal Halloween always includes the water (and what's in it).
Here we are at Universal Studios, Orlando. We're riding the Jaws boat ride. And sure enough, there is that great sign from the first movie. The grafitti is still there. Remember? So is the shark. Look! Is that a fin? Ooooh, just when you thought it was safe...
Da-dum... da-dum... da-dum...
Boo!
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/23/08. Wednesday. Another good Bella morning, she is in good spirits, even with they mysterious disappearance of our normally numerous and active neighborhood squirrel population. Maybe "Sheriff Bella" has cleaned out Dodge and sent all those tree-climbing hoodlums packing. Heh.
Bella and I appreciate each of you for caring and praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are daily blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle that is slowly unfolding.

@Me Myself & Eye: LOL. Thanks for dropping by, and be careful next time you're near the water...
Haha what a fun billboard! This is great.

@e.: All in the spirit of the times; us coastal types have more than ghosts on our minds when we go in the water around Halloween...
ha ha such a happy sign for whats about to happen - with the sun smiling - it makes me laugh.

@Rabbit: Irony can be like that. Funny one minute, then WHAM!!!
A brilliant and funny capture, I think I would have kept the shark bit under wraps though, LOL :D

@MaryB: Yeh <ahem> it's not good for business...
happy halloween VF!This brings back fond memories of my siblings and i cowering under the sofa while watching Jaws..:)

@tyan: Lol. When our kids got old enough, whenever we'd travel to Florida for vacation, a tradition was to always bring the JAWS video for us to watch. And they'd get all scared and excited every time. I can just see you and your sibs cowering under the sofa -- there would be my three cowering under there with y'all, eyes glued to the screen.
Makes me smile!

@Shutterbug: Good! I like spreading the smiles across the miles... thanks for your msg.
It's weird living in dreamland, isn't it? :) Good eye!
30 Oct 2007 7:32am
@Ken McCoy: Call it paradise or call it dreamland, Florida is definitely a "different" kind of place.
Nice find - loved that movie!
30 Oct 2007 7:35am
@Walt: There's no limit to the kinds of "finds" you can uncover around these parts. About all you can't find much of is mountains and snow, but I suspect if you really, closely look... lol.
Great find!
30 Oct 2007 9:53am
@Laurie: Plus we had a fun day at Universal, and no shark bites! Thanks Laurie.
Love it!!!
30 Oct 2007 10:10am
@HorseRotorVator: Glad you like; watch out next time you're in the water.
Super! I'm with Laurie--a great find!
30 Oct 2007 10:15am
@Brian: Thanks. All sorts of cool things eventually float their way down here in Florida.
LOL Love it, love it, love it, loved the movie, what a fantastic capture VF
30 Oct 2007 11:26am
@Lorraine: Sooooo glad you like this one Lorraine!
Indeed that was a good scary movie as well. Looking back there are a lot of things I will not do or try due to the various scary movies I have watched over the years that still give me the creeps. Funny when you think about the power of a movie.
30 Oct 2007 11:33am
@Dawn Sutherland: Movies (as well as individual photos) in general can have a lot of power. I think it has to do with the old "monkey see, monkey do" thing ingrained inside all our human psyches.
Scared me out of the water years ago : ) Great shot VF!!
30 Oct 2007 11:58am
@Jen: We took a vacation to Pensacola right after seeing Jaws the first time. I never was so miserable as when I was in that otherwise beautiful water. Didn't relax the whole time, not even once.
You're an absolute HOOT!! Still love that movie, too. That was the first scary movie I was allowed to go see!! LOL
30 Oct 2007 11:59am
@amy: Amy, you are making me smile. What I mean is -- I'm very happy this one photo has brought you some fun, and a few good/scary movie memories today. Hoot-hoot-hoot! Ha!
CRISP
30 Oct 2007 12:29pm
@Dimitrios: Yes, crisp.
But is something lost in translation? My meaning is, I don't know if JAWS the movie had the same big gut level impact overseas as it did here. Mention JAWS to most 30-something middle aged (and older) Americans, and I doubt if the term "crisp" would ever occur to very many. Mention JAWS here and those who saw it new or over the last few decades might think: fear, horror, monster, painful, terrible way to die, and similiar lines of thought. The impression has persisted over the years.
But "crisp" (??) -- not likely, IMO. Just a bit hard to get to the objective comment in the face of one of our very most powerful (relatively) modern horror icons.
But thanks Dimitrios, I'm taking it you mean the technical quality of the photograph itself is crisp. LOL... your kind compliment is truly much appreciatated. I'm a bit amused only because I wasn't going for technical detail on this shot so much as raw gut reaction. Glad the tech aspect works as well.
LOL, neat shot!

@Stunner: =o) Thanks Stunner!
I must be one of the few people who have not seen any of the jaws movies, I'm not a great movie fan...
30 Oct 2007 3:50pm
@Wolfgang Prigge: Alas for you; it's a '70s cultural phenom, impact of which has lingered long beyond its once advanced visual/special effects/technological stage. And you missed out on it.
I'm reminded of the time the Beatles first came to New Orleans in 1964. As a 15 year old, I refused to go because the $5 ticket price was too steep and I could buy an album and have change in my pocket instead <still bangs head against brick wall sometimes>. So I bought the album and missed the great experience. Brilliant. Aaugh!
Nice! LOL! That movie scared the cr@p out of me.
30 Oct 2007 3:52pm
@MontereyJohn: Thanks John; I must admit to still being wary out in the Gulf -- a leftover of this movie's lasting impact on my impressionable little mind. FL has sharks other than Great Whites which can do their own share of damage, but nothing like the awesome JAWS!!!
My missus still won't go in the water - that film has a lot to answer for....
Well spotted and fun photo for halloween
30 Oct 2007 4:15pm
@Richard_Irwin: LOL. Tell your missus she's not alone; I know lots of women and men who don't enjoy the water nearly as much as they did in the BJ times (Before Jaws)...
Cool shot. Happy Halloween
30 Oct 2007 6:31pm
@Amir: And best wishes for a happy, haunting Halloween to you also! Watch out for those fins, though.
Very cool and funny shot.
30 Oct 2007 6:38pm
@Michael Rawluk: Thanks a lot Michael, and again thanks for that great tribute to LV at your site. She will be greatly missed around here.
Way cooool, VF :) and brrrrrrrrrr.....methinks too, best not to get into that water.... ;)
30 Oct 2007 10:48pm
hahahahaha.....I was too small to get the real impact of jaws, but I do remember seeing one of them and never wanting to go near the water again!! :)
