Fall, y'all - 2

Another glad Fall memory from our time in Georgia; this maple tree was planted in our yard in memory of my mother by some special friends. It was starting to produce some spectacular colors around this time of year. When we moved to Florida, leaving it behind was one of my regrets. But this shot gives me happy memories of how I am sure it looks right now...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.

I love this VF, Maples are my absolute favourite tree, good thing I'm Canadian, hey! LOL also there's not many things as melodious as the sound of fluttering leaves in the wind...

@Wolfgang Prigge: By Canadian standards, I'm sure these colors are average, but yes, it's a special tree and its colors and presence meant a lot. I would have liked to uproot it and bring it to Florida with us when we moved, but that would not have been very good for the tree or the moving budget. So I must enjoy it this way, and imagine how much bigger it may have grown each year.

Georgous colours VF, we have a large Maple tree in our front garden, and this year it has for the first time, in our 8 years here, treated us to just a little of the orange colour you have in your shot :)

@Laurie: Thank you Laurie; after my mom died, these special friends of ours brought us this tree and planted it in our yard in her memory. It will forever be special, even though we no longer live there; but those friends even moreso, as will my mom.

Very lovely Viewfinder! Our fall colours here in Alberta tend to be just the yellows not these gorgeous orange/yellows. Down east (Ontario, Quebec, the maritimes) they get those incredible colours because they can grow maples. We're too cold, really, with not a long enough growing season.
The tree in memoriam is such a special thing. I'm glad you have this image for your memories.

@amy: Wow, I just assumed places like Alberta would also get the colors. Hadn't considered it being too cold for maples and other hardwoods to grow where you are. Maybe a side benefit of the current warming cycle might be that you'll get maples and fall colors? Silver thread in every cloud? Hmm.

@Amir: Amir, us guys here at Look Closer live in Florida now, where Fall colors are just a memory from our days in GA, KY, and Iowa. But Amy's comment and that of the other Canadians, Europeans and Americans living in more northerly climes do indicate that the colors they get are mixed, some better than others. But most of the photos I've seen posted alone Am3 are gorgeous.

@Ken McCoy: In the rest of the world where I used to live, fall was always my favorite season. It's hard to live somewhere where fall is not, esp. in October.
