I was walking along a close by bay beach a couple of weeks ago. It was low tide. I found this unfortunate starfish, stranded waterless and deceased, as I walked along the shore. So I picked him up as any good beachcomber would do, and decided to carry him home. While I was sad for the starfish, I never found a starfish on the beach before. So I felt pretty lucky.
But before I drove away, it seemed like a good idea to photograph the little guy. So I set the new-found starfish on the hood of my VFmobile, pulled out the trusty Nikon, and this is the result.
Somebody elsewhere who saw this shot beforehand told me he looks like he is dancing.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/23/08. Wednesday. Another good Bella morning, she is in good spirits, even with they mysterious disappearance of our normally numerous and active neighborhood squirrel population. Maybe "Sheriff Bella" has cleaned out Dodge and sent all those tree-climbing hoodlums packing. Heh.
Bella and I appreciate each of you for caring and praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are daily blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle that is slowly unfolding.

Great SHOT! I thought you were going to tell us you took the starfish home and spray painted it. For i have never seen one those tones before. Cool Colors.
15 Oct 2007 12:15pm
@Rabbit: Ha! No it's not spray-painted, this is the color it was right off the beach -- not dried out or bleached white like in the souvenir stores. I had never seen one this color either, but it seemed so much like my car's color that I figured it would either be interesting to photograph or be washed out. I think interesting is how it turned out, and I am very glad.
What great detail!!! I like the colors too- starfish are such an interesting creature of the ocean. I once saw a huge ( and I mean HUGE0 orange colored one!

Beautiful shades here. So sensitively captured, dear VF. Though there is a certain sense of mournfulness indeed, it does look a most lovely dance for this very fine one.
