River LifePosted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 9 October 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. Misty mornings in the autumn season, the Tickfaw River is one of South Louisiana's quiet gems. Nothing so big or brash as is the mighty Mississippi River, here along the humble Tickfaw's little coves, people have built quiet river getaways and places to re-group frazzled minds and souls. These are occupied by the weekend or by the week. Some stay 24/7, 365. I was privileged to spend a short holiday there last Fall. As you can see, some keep big boats in this cove -- small boats, too. The main river meanders to places where sport fishermen can easily boat either to fresh, brackish, or salt water for their favorite pastime. #1 in my archival Tickfaw River Days series... HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.
