Here's TwoPosted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 12 September 2007 in Architecture and Portfolio. Here's a couple of brightly painted houses/shops in the Bradenton Art District. New D80, part 3. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.

@Mohammad: Thank you, Mo, for your nice comment today. Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaIt's absolutely amazing, what a pleasure to look at! Great catch again VF :) 12 Sep 2007 7:46am @Lorraine: Glad you like, thanks Lorraine. tyan from Singapore, Singaporewhat a colourful house!i wish i can paint my house like that!:) 12 Sep 2007 7:57am @tyan: Lol. I've wondered if they get tired of the brightness and long for drab grays and sandy browns. @Myst: Thanks! Your visit here today is appreciated, as always. Blessings. Mandy from Johannesburg, South AfricaWow, what a colourful place to live VF!! I really am loving the colours in these new D80 shots...I'd love to see if the colours are as spectatcular on something "normal"!!!(By that I mean something not so colourfully painted :)). The more pics I see the more I am determined to get me one of those D80's!!! :) 12 Sep 2007 9:00am @Mandy: Colorful yes -- it is sort of like living in the Caribbean, at least the art district looks that way. There are some "normal" un-rennovated homes in the art district area too. But they aren't so interesting to see or photograph. I'm glad you're enjoying a peek into this one part of Bradenton. MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWhat a fabulous place to live, you've captured the vibrance of the colours wonderfully VF. 12 Sep 2007 11:18am @MaryB: Yes, some of the artists do live in this same area. You can tell by the way each house is painted. This was an old, run-down area until some of the community leaders got the idea to "set it apart" as an art district to make it attractive for this kind of re-development. It's not been 100% transformed, but is transforming and this is part of the new "look" to the area. Thanks for commenting today MaryB. Rob from Velveetaville, United StatesGreat capture Viewfinder. Those silly artists and there funky homes... oh wait, are we artists, never mind ;-) Great images the past few days, must be the new camera :-) Cheers, Rob 12 Sep 2007 11:28am @Rob: Thanks Rob. I guess there's nothing like this in Velveetaville, eh? I gotta tell you again how much I liked the two adirondacks in the rain at your place today. Rebel Szczesny from Big Apple - NYC, United StatesCool image. But one thing. The people with the Blue door must not have A/C. The heats gettin' to them. They have a Xmas wreath on the door... 12 Sep 2007 11:32am @Rebel Szczesny: Lol. Yes, they have a wreath on the door -- not sure if it's a Christmas wreath or just a wreath. Some people do that, probably the "artsy" kinds mostly. But jingle bells to you anyway, my friend. HorseRotorVator from Newton, United StatesAwesome composition and the colors are amazing!!!! 12 Sep 2007 12:53pm @HorseRotorVator: Wow, very nice compliment for this humble snapshot. Thank you HRV. Manuela Photography from Hainburg, GermanyWhat a beautiful & colourful neighbourhood ;) 12 Sep 2007 1:11pm @Manuela Photography: Thank you. It is an area that is fun to walk through during the daylight times; so many different views. Amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaI love your neighborhood!! What an amazing place to live!! Another great shot Viewfinder... the colours are amazing! 12 Sep 2007 2:24pm @Amy: Gotta confess this isn't "my" neighborhood. It's simply a neighborhood inside of the city of Bradenton. It's about a ten minute drive from where I live -- which is in a different, more "normal" looking area of town. We have palm trees, flowers, mango trees, grass, painted stucco and stone. A lot less Caribbean-looking, but still Florida. But thanks for the enthusiastic comments! Michael Rawluk from Prince George, CanadaIncredibly colourful. Sure beats the bland colours on buildings where I live. 12 Sep 2007 2:30pm @Michael Rawluk: It is definitely colorful; that's why my wife and I like going walking around in the area and checking out some of the artists' shops. A dream is for my art major youngest daughter to open a shop in the district some day. @Celialee: Yes it is a very colorful neighborhood. @rainsocks: It would be a really interesting neighborhood to live in. Rabbit from Richmond, United StatesOh it would be so fun to live in such a colorful house. It would go well with my personality. Great capture to share with us. 12 Sep 2007 4:06pm @Rabbit: Lol. I can see you in this area Rabbit; and a nice pottery shop would fit right in. Lost Valley Views from Kamloops, BC, CanadaWhat a fabulously cool place!!! The colors are fantastic and it looks like such a fun place to wander. 12 Sep 2007 4:13pm @Lost Valley Views: Definitely. Glad you stopped by for a visit. @Stunner: Maybe kind of Jamaican-looking? Seraphine from San Francisco, United StatesI wish I had the same courage for architectural color. 12 Sep 2007 5:03pm @Seraphine: Some neighborhoods work for this kind of thing better than others. Where I live, this would be a bit too bright and beachy-looking. But I still like seeing it. Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomWhoa, it’s a wonderful life reflected here! :) The super cool colours & style speak of super cool free-spirited dwellers with shedloads of fun, creativity and originality, and plenty of smiles from the heart. :o)) Super cool composition, VF!! :) 12 Sep 2007 7:05pm @Rebecca: Yes it is that way in the Art District. A fun kind of place to poke around and just see what's there. It's still a work in progress. Glad you like the image today, my friend. Blessings. Ken McCoy from Orlando-Daytona Beach, FL, United StatesYou've captured the feel of the neighborhood very nicely - those artists and their bright colors :) 12 Sep 2007 9:11pm @Ken McCoy: It definitely has its own character(s)... ;^) Dawn Sutherland from Phoenix, United StatesI have to visit this place someday, I love the use of color, I bet it makes you feel good as you go through this town. Happy colors, cute homes, love it! 12 Sep 2007 11:04pm @Dawn Sutherland: It's fun to just walk around in this little district and see the different houses and shops. Most are as bright and interesting as these two. @R: ;-D Thank you R. Takiyah from Snellville, United StatesVery colorful homes you've captured! Makes me wonder if they are just as artsy on the inside:) 13 Sep 2007 4:14am Dave MacIntyre from Toronto, CanadaAmazing colours! Like a "candyland" village! :) 13 Sep 2007 4:19am See The Light from Newcastle, United StatesWoderful colors out of those Nikons HUM....... 13 Sep 2007 4:23am Laurie from New Jersey, United StatesI love those colors.
