My D80 is here. But this is another test of my new Panasonix Lumix point & shoot. Our blue plumbagos are in bloom and were just about screaming at me for their portrait to be taken. So I was glad to oblige. Again, in macro mode (I think, not sure about this one)...
Whatever mode, where me and this new Lumix are concerned, I'm beginning to believe this could be the start of a long friendship.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 10/14/08, Tuesday. Bella will see her doggie cardiologist today. We are hoping and praying he will find some healing/improvement in her heart/aortic valve condition. God is the one who heals and blesses.
Bella's miracle, the one we're all praying for, is still a day by day process; it may take a bit of time for completion. Bella's battle for life, wellness, and needed healing for her heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run. Bella and I thank you for joining her prayer "team" around the world. Each of you are truly special blessings to us.

The colours are great VF. I'm sure that you and your Panasonic are going to have a long and happy future together!! :) I love your DOF. Is the focus on the green shoot next to the cluster of blooms? I really like it and I'm glad I inspired you to shoot some more flowers!!! hahaha. Now I know what types of flowers I nee to go look for!
Bring on the pics of your new baby..... I can't wait to see what you can do with it! :) Blessings for a fabulous saturday!

We can see that the point and shoot cameras have come a long way. So if one wants to travel light, they do the job, as your postings for today and yesterday show. As I have only a point and shoot (Canon PowerShot S3 IS), I try to get the best out of it. For example I got some really good results when I tried taking flowers or insects (or both) with the optical zoom to the maximum, programm set to portrait, at about 1 meter distance. The 12X optical zoom is roughly equivalent to a 400 mm zoom on a 35 mm camera, and the portrait programm gives more blurr to the background.

Great shot and I have to ask...where did you get the D80?

This is pretty. The focus seems to be on the leaves just past the flower though rather than the flower. I don't have a point and shoot so I'm not sure how they focus. I think my son has the same Lumix camera. He is happy with it too.

This plant is called:"Blue bango". We had this many years ago in our garden.
