The LookPosted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 27 August 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. "Look into these eyes." My mother in law's cat could scowl dry paint off a cement wall. She's actually quite docile and sweet (the cat, I mean)... Had a pretty busy weekend and wasn't able to reply to all of the comments left here on Saturday. Just wanted to thank everyone who has come by for taking the time and caring enough to leave a word or two. It's a great joy to visit your sites and to be part of this very supportive and wonderful community; I enjoy thinking about new Am3 friends all around the nation and the world, and how much I have learned from each of you. Thanks and blessings all. --VF

Soph from Enghien, Belgiumwith those eyes, she doesn't look docile and sweet at all!! Nice photo, wonderful texture and eyes! 27 Aug 2007 6:45am @Soph: Ha! Looks are deceiving; she's all bluff and no bite. Thanks for the compliments on this one. ColNed Pictures from Amersfoort, NetherlandsWhat a shot and that face... wow looks real angry.... 27 Aug 2007 7:16am @ColNed Pictures: Heh-heh. She is just critical of cameras stuck in her face. Manuela Photography from Hainburg, GermanyDoes not look to happy... lovely tones and texture! 27 Aug 2007 7:47am @Manuela Photography: This cat hates to be noticed; camera attention gets her all upset. Thank you for the postitive feedback. tyan from Singaporehaha v funny.i thought she looks like she was ready to devour sth,.......and the moter-in-law- too, hahaha.reminds me of the pussy in Shrek movie.:) 27 Aug 2007 8:57am @tyan: Glad you enjoyed this shot today, and the little mother-in-law joke I stuck in with it. Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomWoooaaah....thats one crazy scary cat scowl.....terrifying for a mouse or little bird I would imagine. Cool shot. 27 Aug 2007 9:45am @Richard_Irwin: Thanks Richard. And yes, I'd hate to be smaller than she is, and face that face alone. @Lorraine: You are exposed as a cat-lover, Lorraine. You saw through her best defenses and know what a sweetie this old gal really is. @Shrig: Ha-ha! She's a mean-looking old thing, but is actually just bluffing. Wouldn't hurt a flea. Rebel Szczesny from Big Apple - NYC, United StatesThis looks to be one very mean pussy cat. LOL Needs to look at your Sunset Portfolio and cheer up. Speaking of which... 27 Aug 2007 11:55am @Rebel Szczesny: Glad you dropped by this morning, RS. Her name is "Miss Pris" and she is a very shy and retiring old gal. Pris tries to stare down the opposition, but her stare is far worse than her bite. But then, if I happened to be a mouse or a creepy-crawlie thingie looking up at that face, I might well have a much different perspective on the whole matter. So you're still liking those sunsets, eh? Makes me glad. There are more where they came from, in my old box of pix -- and more to be made every day. Who knows, another sunset or sky series may come along. BTW, I'm also thinking along the lines of doing some street photos or people-watching shots of old downtown Bradenton and maybe Sarasota and/or their riverfront/bayfront environs. It's been kinda hot, and I've been kinda lazy lately... Walt from Scarborough, CanadaOh, I've seen that look from my dog...and my daughter. But I don't have a cat... 27 Aug 2007 12:18pm @Walt: Ha! Cats and daughters have perfected the art; dogs are too loyal to really put a face on like this. Dogs work more on guilt trips when we are leaving them at home and they gaze into our eyes, sadly knowing. Stan Pulsar from Strasbourg, FranceGreat shot ! 27 Aug 2007 12:35pm @Stan Pulsar: Not a happy camper at the moment of this capture, for sure. Thanks. MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomOh my! what a look! 27 Aug 2007 1:20pm @MaryB: Wow, Mary. I am so glad you like this shot. When I took this one, I wondered if she would scowl the color right out of my camera. @Brian: LOL! Thanks for that one, a big, big smile for the day. Nick Passantino from Bronx, United Stateswow what a look.. i feel like i've seen that one a few times. nice capture 27 Aug 2007 2:45pm @Nick Passantino: Ha-ha. Me too. Not always by a cat. M.E. from Encino, United Statesshe looks so fierce but i believe you when you said she's docile and sweet... well done on the close up shot. 27 Aug 2007 3:38pm @M.E.: Not a truly fierce bone in her body. Thanks for coming by, and for commenting today. amy from Rocky Mountain House, CanadaViewfinder! Even without reading all the above comments I know that's just a pensive stare... didn't you know all cats are terribly introspective?!! LOL Really a great shot and you've captured such a typical cat expression beautifully. (and I love that line of yours saying Miss Pris could scowl dry paint off a cement wall... absolutely hilarious!!) 27 Aug 2007 3:45pm @amy: Thanks Amy. I'm always glad to hear from you. Thanks for the vote of confidence; am glad what I shot and wrote provided you some laughter today. The world sure needs more of that, eh? @Kheoh Yee Wei: Such a look she has, but not one to really menace anything or anyone. Thanks Kheoh. R from Nowhere and Everywhere, United StatesHOLY SHIT !!!! excuse my french ...lol..... That is an awesome picture BUT I am scarred out of my mind by CUJO CAT !!!! WOWZA !!! 27 Aug 2007 5:34pm @R: Ha-ha! She is far less scary in-person (or is that in-cat?)... @LuisRodrigues: Thank you Luis. Lost Valley from kamloops, CanadaWhen I looked at the photo I went glad I am not a mouse lol! I would run and hide real fast. Looks like she is ready to pounce...what is her name? 27 Aug 2007 7:05pm @Lost Valley: Ha! Keep that rabbit at your site today. This cat looks tough, but the rabbit would probably beat the tar out of her. Her name is Miss Pris, she belongs to my mother in law. Or maybe my mother in law belongs to Miss Pris. Ken McCoy from Orlando-Daytona Beach, FL, United StatesLooks like somebody's in for trouble :) I have a very sweet dog who looks menacing sometimes.... 27 Aug 2007 7:08pm @Ken McCoy: Ha! This cat couldn't fight her way out of a wet paper bag, and wouldn't. But she makes some pretty scary faces. zoloper from Bucuresti, Romaniaconfusing cat face expresion :P .. but the same thing applies at some dog breeds: they look sad but actually they can be happy. i can't name them but i think you've seen them :D 27 Aug 2007 8:49pm @zoloper: Thanks for commenting tonight. I think I do know the kinds of dogs you're talking about, but can't name the breed either. Wolfgang Prigge from Granby, CanadaNobody is going to mess with that cat! Very good picture, maybe the angle from above gives an even meaner expression? 27 Aug 2007 9:37pm @Wolfgang Prigge: Could be the angle, who knows. She's a funny cat. Thanks for coming by. Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomMmmmmm....what thought-provoking eyes! At first she certainly came across as a fierce feline...! but on second look, i must admit there is an appealing and adorable quality to this curious cat too! :) I think this is a brilliant capture, VF. What an expression! :-) Certainly brought a smile to my day, and to Jeff (who loves cats :) )'s too. 27 Aug 2007 10:23pm @Rebecca: How great to think that this little cat could bring smiles across the Atlantic and the world. She has no idea of herself being "world famous" within the Am3 community. Thanks you for looking deeper into her eyes and beyond that fierce expression to see her truest sweet self. Makes me miss my girl Sassy! 28 Aug 2007 12:14am @Images by KC Photography: You're right, she is a sweetheart. Thanks for visiting here tonight. Dave Mac from Toronto, CanadaThis IS quite a look! :) Nicely captured. And thanks for stopping by my page! 28 Aug 2007 3:10am eydryan from Bucharest, Romaniahehe, always fun to play with pets, looked at mine? :D anyway, great image and great look :) 28 Aug 2007 10:01pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesIs this the same mad cat, or am I confusing her with another animal? That's one funny expression. It's funny that a cat, lacking the range of human facial expressions, can still show "mad" like this with just her eyes. I think photos like this one illustrate how much we tend to underestimate the intelligence and emotions of animals, and how they feel many of the same things that we do. 29 Aug 2007 2:33pm @Twelvebit: No, this is a different cat than the other one you're remembering. That one is our cat, this one is my mother-in-law's cat. Each one truly is a different personality. Harald from Frankfurt am Main, GermanyA perfect shot. The brilliance on the eyes makes it to a eyecatcher. 29 Aug 2007 6:57pm bronzebilly u.k. from cardiff, United Kingdomfrightening VF!!--I'll wager she sits wherever she fancies;-))--billy 29 Aug 2007 10:36pm |
