Sunset 1Posted by Viewfinder (Bradenton, FL, United States) on 20 August 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. No matter how long we live on the FL west coast, I don't think I'll ever get over the assortment of fabulous sunsets and painted skies. I'm going to begin a series with this one. My hope is to showcase just a few of the many different moods of that magical time around sunset in these parts.

MaryB from Staffordshire, United KingdomWow! a beautiful sky! the colours are amazing! 20 Aug 2007 8:12am @MaryB: Thanks MaryB; no hills here all flat beach land. I may have been standing on a small sand mound, but nothing extraordinary. Lorraine from CanadaIt's lovely and how wonderful not to have electrical outlets across the sky (one of my biggest problem:) 20 Aug 2007 8:33am @Lorraine: Wow, if they put electric wires across the beach in FL, there would be a general insurrection around these parts. @Craiger: Thank you Craiger. Wolfgang Prigge from Granby, CanadaThis is superb! I agree with you, sunsets over water or over the praries have an enormous variety one never gets tired of them. 20 Aug 2007 11:41am @Wolfgang Prigge: Thanks and you are right; prairie sunsets are spectacular. And where there are mountains in the background... ooh la la! @Evi: Thank you Evi. @Jen: Muchas gracias, Jen. Glad you've got more hibiscus coming along at your place. @alla: Many thanks to you alla. Lost Valley from Kamloops, CanadaThis is a perfect picture to start my day! I love the gentleness of the colors so washed across the sky. Like you- sunsets and sunrises I could never get tired of! 20 Aug 2007 3:07pm @Lost Valley: So glad this one made a good start to your day; your high praise for it helped get my day going well. Thanks! Viewfinder from Bradenton, United StatesThanks to all who are commenting on my site today; workload is big on this Monday so I may be very slow in getting back. Just know how appreciated each of you are! 20 Aug 2007 3:09pm Dawn Sutherland from Phoenix, United StatesVery moody, lovely start to your new series. 20 Aug 2007 3:19pm @Dawn Sutherland: Thank you Dawn. Sunsets are a fave of mine. I remember a children's book from my way-back years. It was called "The Color Kittens" and it was a "teach the little kids about color" kind of plot. But one of the things I recall was the sunset colors the kittens painted in the sky, or something like that. Rebel Streetshooter from Big Apple - NYC, United StatesA little late start today. Nice one VF. All of us in the community love the photos like this. A+ from me. 20 Aug 2007 3:46pm Rebel Streetshooter from Big Apple - NYC, United StatesMy 2nd post. The image is magnificent. Impressive, Beautiful. A series? 20 Aug 2007 4:19pm @Rebel Streetshooter: Thank you twice Rebel; yes a series. Some will be better or more dramatic than others, but that's the thing about Florida sunsets. Lots of different moods from day to day or season to season... Rebecca from Leicester, United KingdomHmmm....must say I wholeheartedly agree with Rebel on this one :) .... now, what words are there left to describe this? *-) ....Splendid, VF. A real wow, and truly splendid. Thank you for this, especially on a Monday. :) 20 Aug 2007 5:01pm @Rebecca: Your affirmation is truly appreciated Rebecca; no postprocessing here -- God made the sky, all I did was notice and snap. Brian from United StatesJust lovely! I agree--Florida has some of the best sunsets I've ever seen (I have 3 scheduled to show in the next 3 days). 20 Aug 2007 5:30pm @Brian: Thanks Brian! Heh, I guess we're going to be doing a set of "dueling Florida sunsets" because I've got several days of them booked for this week, too. Can't wait 'til yours also start showing up. Jose from Barcelona, SpainUna imagen muy buena. Me gusta mucho el color y la luz tan suave. 20 Aug 2007 7:41pm @Jose: Gracias, Jose. Any cowboy under this sky would have to be water skiing. Glad you like, billy. Have a great tomorrow. @ROLANDs: Merci beaucoup, mon ami. @HorseRotorVator: They truly were amazing that particular day. Mandy from Johannesburg, South AfricaAMAZING!! I love the way the clouds at the bottom are that subdued grey really makes the other colours jump out at you!
