Heads Up (BW)

For your listening pleasure, I present the lyrics from a great early 70s song by Procol Harum, as part of my inspiration...

Conquistador your stallion stands
In need of company
And like some angels haloed brow
You reek of purity
I see your armour-plated breast
Has long since lost its sheen
And in your death mask face
There are no signs which can be seen

And though I hoped for something to find
I could see no maze to unwind

Conquistador a vulture sits
Upon your silver shield
And in your rusty scabbard now
The sand has taken seed
And though your jewel-encrusted blade
Has not been plundered still
The sea has washed across your face
And taken of its fill

And though I hoped for something to find
I could see no maze to unwind

Conquistador there is no time
I must pay my respect
And though I came to jeer at you
I leave now with regret
And as the gloom begins to fall
I see there is no, only all
And though you came with sword held high
You did not conquer, only die

And though I hoped for something to find
I could see no maze to unwind

For your viewing pleasure, I re-present this pair of replicated Spanish conquistador helmets, c. Hernando DeSoto. DeSoto is said to have landed at a site on the Manatee River in what is now Bradenton.

Some minor background and opera: One of my favorite photos was the color version of this same image, which I posted early in my AM3 career (June 14, '07). It got not one single comment (to my surprise) from anyone. But never one to quit, I decided it just needed a different presentation to capture all the previously expected accolades. So voila! Here it is again, this time pp-ed in all its BW glory -- if you first want to compare this to the color version before you comment, ok. If you don't want to comment (again) -- ok, too. Choke... softly sobbing.

;-) Thanks for coming by...

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT AM3. I am out and probably away from the computer all this week. We are headed to north Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with our son and his wife and her family. I hope everyone who celebrates this holiday has a wonderful day, filled with turkey and gratitude for every blessing. And those who do not, I hope will remember to count their blessings and be thankful. Packing and getting the SUV all set for the drive today; we leave very early Tuesday morning and plan to return sometime Sunday.
