Floating a boat? Going fishing? Get you some corks first... heh. Taken at a really cool marine salvage shop in Apalachicola, this bundle of old fishing net corks just invites the camera to snap it up.
Please pray for Bella.
Bella Update: 07/26/08. Saturday. Bella's good this morning; walk was fun/no squirrels, but we did a different block than usual. She likes variety. Breakfast -- meds soon, the post-walk routine. She slept better last night than the one before. Panting still, but it's hot. So, thank you God for another morning blessing today.
Bella and I are grateful for each of you, for caring and singing (love is all around...), and especially for praying. Please understand this miracle being prayed for, because although it is day by day, it also may take a bit of time for completion: Bella's battle for life, wellness, and a healed heart isn't a sprint but a long-distance run.
What we have right now are day by day blessings: I am prayerfully thankful that her good days may be God's bit by bit miracle, slowly unfolding.

This is good stuff! I like it. You captured it well. I think it is very well lit - did you use a flash on this one?
How do you like your Nikon D50? I am looking into getting a serious camera and I am leaning the Nikon way. Do you have any advice you would be willing to give?

@Michael Keith: Thanks; this particular cork pile was outside, so no flash. It was late in the afternoon.
I love my Nikon D50. You can't go wrong with a Nikon -- but D50 and D70s are already replaced by D40 and D80s, with the higher m'pixel count. A lot of folks love Canon, and they take some great shots with them, so you'd do well with one of those as well. But as for me, I stick with the flagship brand of camera -- Nikon and highly recommend you look into either the D40 or D80. D50 is great if you can find one, but it's 6.1 megapixels versus 10.1 with the D80.
Nice one. I bet this place is full of good shots.
Michael --I've got a D80 and I love it. The D50 looks like it does pretty good photos, but I really find the extra 4MB with the D80 very useful. I was approached while taking pics the other day by a guy who said he has a D200 and doesn't think it's any better than his son's D80. Still, I'd probably get a D200 if I could afford it, with the VR lens. The D200 has an aluminum frame and watertight seals, and a higher fps rate.

@Twelvebit: Thanks, yes it is a great place to get shots of the out of the ordinary. And thanks too for the insights into other levels of Nikon. My son has a D80 and apart from the megapixels, I don't see much difference between his and my D50. You can still do an awful lot with 6.1 megapixels.
Well done!
