This is our girl, Dini, as she reclines at ease beside our pool. Just don't be fooled by the calm exterior; she is on duty guarding our back yard against the brazen squirrels who attempt to invade our space by shimmying down our neighbor's live oak tree and parachuting down from there to Dini's turf. When she spots one, she streaks like lightning out the pet door and the chase is on. So far the squirrels have been a few steps faster as they levitate up the back fence. But Dini is the eternal optimist, and quite analytical. I've noticed she's gained a step now and then by waiting until the opportune moment to make her charge.

I like how this is composed showing her "on guard." I only wonder what Dini will do when she is successful at capturing the ever-elusive squirrels. :-)

@Steven: Lol. I've wondered the same thing. She might be surprised at the fight one of this toothsome tree rats can put up when imperiled...
